1. Sending a takedown notice
If you believe content shared through Polu infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent (details below) that includes:
- Signature: A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act for them.
- The copyrighted work: Identification of the copyrighted work you believe was infringed.
- The infringing material: The Polu share link (for example https://polu.io/…) and enough detail for us to find the specific files.
- Your contact details: Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
- Good-faith statement: A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- Accuracy statement: A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
Notices that are missing required information may be delayed while we ask for the details.
2. Designated copyright agent
- Name: Polu Copyright Agent
- Company: Polu (polu.io)
- Email: legal@polu.io
3. What happens next
- We review the notice and, if it is complete, promptly remove or disable access to the reported material.
- We notify the account holder who shared it and send them a copy of the notice where appropriate.
- We keep a record of the notice and the action taken.
4. Counter-notices
If you believe your content was removed by mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same agent with:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and the share link where it appeared.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the United States, any judicial district where Polu may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
We forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material 10 to 14 business days after receiving the counter-notice.
5. Repeat infringers
We disable accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyrights, in line with our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.
6. False claims
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages. If you are unsure whether content infringes your rights, consider seeking legal advice first.
